How to compress an image to a specific size

Choose your image or drag it onto the upload area. Enter your target file size, such as 100 KB, 200 KB, 500 KB, 1 MB or 2 MB. Select an output format and click Compress Images. Download the results once processing finishes.

Can an image always reach the exact target?

Not always. Very detailed pictures and extremely small targets may require major dimension reductions. This tool aims to produce a file at or below your chosen limit and tells you if it cannot. It does not artificially pad a file to match an exact byte count.

Is my image uploaded to a server?

No. This tool uses your browser's image-processing capabilities. Your images stay on your device. The website can be hosted as a single HTML file with no database or server-side image processing.

What is the best format?

JPG is useful for photographs, WebP often offers efficient compression, and PNG is useful for graphics that need transparency or lossless storage. Try WebP or JPG when a PNG is too large for your target.
